The Flavour

The first question we are asked is “What does it taste like?” The flavour of the Haskap is like eating blueberries and raspberries smashed together with a splash of ZING!!! All of this flavour without the seeds. The super berries have extremely high health benefits. Haskap berry antioxidant levels are 3X higher than blueberries. These super berries have high levels of vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and fibre.

The Harvest

Haskap berries are the first fruit of the Season. In our tester field we have an assortment of different varieties of Haskap berries, however in our main fields we have chosen to plant 3 varieties. These three varieties were chosen for how they co-exist. Our tester field berries arrive middle of June and our late varietal Haskap berries are ready to make a beautiful mix with strawberries and the Haskap season should last into mid July depending on the weather.

'BEAUTY' fruits are oval or heart-shaped. Berries are thick, firm and meaty. Its berries are almost as heavy as ‘BLIZZARD’ berries although they are only 2/3rds as long. But they are considerably thicker. Weight of the berry is 2.6g - 3.7 g/per berry on average.

Beast

‘BEAST’ fruit is an excellent variety. Thick Heart or thick Oval, best aroma in the field and great aftertaste. Weight of the berry is 1.8-2.4 g/per berry on average.

Blizzard

'BOREAL BLIZZARD' berries are huge for a Haskap berry. Well-pollinated fruits are easily greater than 3 grams. They are ‘Surfboard’ looking in that they have Rounded narrower ends, wide centre, and a bit flattened in appearance. Weight of the berry is 3 g/per berry on average.
